Coming Home to Peace: One Breath at a Time
Lately, the world feels loud.
There’s a current of anxious energy so many of us are picking up on—whether we’re watching the news, scrolling through social media, or simply trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life.
It’s easy to feel untethered.
To disconnect from ourselves.
To forget that we have the power to return to peace—anytime we choose.
And it all starts with a breath.
One slow, deep inhale through the nose.
Hold for a moment…
And then let it go with a soft, audible sigh.
This simple practice isn’t just relaxing—it’s powerful.
It tells your body: You’re safe.
It shifts your nervous system out of fight, flight, or freeze—the stress state we so often live in—and brings you into rest and restore, the place where healing, calm, and clarity live.
In my own wellness journey, I’ve learned that peace isn’t something we find outside of ourselves.
It’s something we return to—when we slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect to what matters.
Sometimes, I do this in the warmth of an infrared sauna.
Sometimes, it’s with my hand on my heart in a quiet moment at home.
Wherever I am, it always begins with presence.
With choosing myself.
Here’s a simple practice you can try right now:
1. Sit quietly with your feet grounded.
2. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly.
3. Inhale slowly through your nose for a count of 4.
4. Hold for a count of 4.
5. Exhale through your mouth with a sigh for a count of 6.
6. Repeat 3-5 times, noticing how your body begins to soften.
Let this be your invitation to pause.
To come home to yourself.
To choose peace—even in the midst of uncertainty.
Because your breath is always with you.
And peace lives within you.
With love and calm,
Mary
